HINTS (TAKE CARE OF THESE POINTS !)

1. You have to perform daily, the pin site dressing to avoid the most common encounterd complication , pin tract infection. You will have to keep your frame clear and protect it with a specially tailored dress.

2. You will have to perform the required exercices, from your physician, in order to avoid joint stiffness.

3. You will have to walk with full weight bearing, unless you are told otherwise.

4. Smoking is not allowed and smoking areas have to be avoided.

5. Perscribed medicines, from your physician, have to be taken, including calcium, and a increased consumption of milk products like milk, yoghurt,cheese,etc. is to follow.

PIN SITE CARE OF ILIZAROV EXTERNAL FIXATOR

1. Pin site dressing should be done every day, because wires are non-biologic materials for the body.

2. The pin site should be cleaned with 70 % alcohol, every day and the crusts should be removed. After the alcohol evaporates, a batticone soaked, sterile gauge, have to be placed between the shin and the plastic tips.

3. If any abnormal redness, infective discharge or else reactions, will be seen, start curing by previously prescribed anthibiotics and apply to our secretary immediately.
